Welcome to the Elementary Department of BCIS.
In the elementary department students from all different walks of life, nations, and cultures learn together as one from Grade 1 through Grade 6. The elementary school of BCIS seeks to provide all of our precious students a caring, safe, and exciting learning environment that seeks to empower our students to discover new ideas and knowledge about themselves, each other, and the global community and world all around them. Our average class size of 15 students per class is evidence of our goal to focus on and meet the wide variety of needs that each of our unique and special students have. We know that all students learn in a variety of ways and that each individual student possesses their own repertoire of God-given talents and skills. We strive to create an environment that motivates and enables every unique learner to develop and succeed academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.
To achieve this goal the BCIS Elementary Department endeavors to raise our students on the principles of God’s inspired Word and seeks to integrate Biblical values and character building throughout all of the core curriculum. We believe that all of our students are created in the image of God and are therefore fearfully and wonderfully made. We also believe that God has a divine plan to prosper and prepare a wonderful future for every one of His precious children. Our dedicated teachers seek to model and foster in our students character traits such as love, joy, peace, respect, thankfulness, self-control, patience, and hard work.
Another very important goal of the elementary department is to strive for academic excellence by fostering a learning environment where our students are continuously being actively engaged and participating in the learning process. We make every effort to create every opportunity for every student to reach his or her full potential. We strive to cultivate students who are critical thinkers, creative, and active participants in a dynamic and transforming educational experience. Our dedicated team of loving and caring teachers continually seeks God’s wisdom and strength to make sure that every student is cared for, accepted, loved, and has every opportunity to achieve the goals and desired outcomes for our students that are outlined above.
The elementary department’s desire for academic excellence is balanced with a wide variety of extra-curricular programs and activities such as our TISAC sports programs, after school club activities, field trips, monthly house team activities, yearly lock in and summer camps, community service, music and drama productions, and so much more. All of these academic and extra-curricular programs aim to provide all of our students every opportunity to develop and hone each of their unique talents and skills while at the same time providing them with every chance to develop and grow spiritually as well.
I have been very blessed and privileged to have been able to work and serve at BCIS for the past 14 years. I have seen God bless our school and our students time and time again in such amazing and powerful ways. I have seen so many of my former elementary students go on to high school and then on to university where they have become great success stories and have been able to fulfill so many of their dreams and aspirations. I continually hear back from so many of them about how thankful they are for BCIS and the positive impact and influence the school and its teachers have had on their lives. It is only by God’s grace and His strength that we are able to share these continued great success stories, and it is only by His grace, wisdom, and strength that we will continue to witness continued success of our students and BCIS as a quality, life-transforming, Christian educational institution.
It is my prayer that BCIS and its students will continue to love and enjoy their learning experiences here, and that they will continue to be blessed by God to become all that He desires them to be.
Sincerely, Mr. David J. Maksel |
