High School Head Teacher

SY 2010-2011

At the outset, I wish to thank the Lord, our Greatest Teacher, who, for more than a decade now, has blessed this expanding multi-cultural international school with committed administrators and remarkable teachers providing our students with excellent basic and secondary education – a strong foundation for college life.

The High School Department is blessed with dedicated faculty members who work exceedingly hard to demonstrate proficient teaching and observe high professional standards in dealing with colleagues, parents and students.  They provide extra help opportunities to low-performing schoolchildren and afford brilliant students with challenging tasks to perfect their potentials, but without neglecting the needs of the average students who constitute the greater part of the student population.  The free afterschool tutorial program for struggling students is a demonstration of the teachers’ devotion to do extra mile. Our teachers’ steadfastness to draw the best in our students and help them attain their goals in the light of godly principles is what sets them apart from other teachers in many regular schools.

The High School Department provides a holistic curriculum which trains the mind, the body, and the spirit.   The department’s aspiration for academic excellence is balanced with various co-curricular and extra-curricular programs for the arts, physical education, community outreach, and spiritual empowerment.  The creation of various clubs provides students with choices so that their unpolished skills and gifts can be developed into pure talents.

Moreover, behavior problems and misconducts are properly addressed by a committee whose goal is to guide erring students in the light of God’s word.  Discipline coupled with love helps students to realize that the school cares for them - teaching them to behave circumspectly and training them to show respect for themselves and others.

BCIS is not without flaws.  It has ups and downs.  This reality of imperfection encourages the school to fully depend on God’s hand.  Since I started working with the school four years ago as a teacher, I have witnessed the way God provides and moves His hand in every difficult circumstance.   God upholds the school so that it could continue to accomplish its mission of providing quality Christian education.

This is my second year as head of the High School Division.  Supervision is a challenging task but equality rewarding because here I discovered the beauty of “unity in diversity.”  In a multi-cultural environment, you will learn to value your own identity and appreciate the unique and exquisite traditions of others.   Not withstanding the differences in cultural backgrounds and beliefs, the call of duty and the passion for teaching bring together diverse minds into one common mission.  Here people feel connected… each works in becoming a productive member of the BCIS family.

With teachers committed to high academic standards, parents are assured that we will do all we can to bring out the best in our students.  I also would like the parents to visit and share with us their sentiments.  We enlist your participation in every endeavor the department undertakes.

It is my prayer that the students will find their stay at BCIS valuable and worthwhile, that as they leave the portals of the school and commence another chapter of their academic pursuit, they will still continue to uphold the ideals and values they learned here at BCIS.
